Nuno Felt Wrap Scarf or Shawl

Nuno Felt Wrap or Scarf by Marie Spaulding of Living Felt

I have a vision…and it is very much in process. This nuno felt wrap is part of a larger project that I am really enjoying the challenge of making.. I LOVE the Fairy Hollow color way of our Specialty Designer packs. Sincerely I have several favorites, but this one of the first two I ever designed.

I hope to share more of the “project”…still a work in progress… very soon, but I hope you enjoy a few pics of this Spring flavored nuno felt. This was created with layers of hand dyed silk chiffon, merino tops and merino silk blends, hand dyed sari silk, silk noil, and bamboo. I used Jacquard Acid Dyes.

I took an online class with Judith Dios just to learn the rosettes, I did not follow her method exactly, probably should have ( I love to try out my ideas tho!) Anyway, hers are better and I will keep trying. Her online class has lots of techniques that she uses to create lovely nuno felt garments.

I love how pieces look when dry so much that sometimes I don’t want to wet them :O)

Just had to give a shout out to 3M Scotch brand…(turns out that is the brand of my bubble and my painter’s tape), to ye olde pool noodle and my trusty Ikea Norden table … all for a good day’s work and job well done 🙂

Busy Hands, Happy Heart

Hand Dyed Teeswater Locks

It has been a long while since I attempted a blog about my doings and thoughts, but here goes, and thanks for being here with me. Living Felt keeps me quite busy with all manner of fibery things, and my life, both work and home are very integrated…so there will be plenty of fiber chat happening. If you know me, or are beginning to, you will know not to expect much in the way of rants or slants but instead lots of love, celebration and explorations on this road we call life and living. I am grateful to be here. Welcome to my neck of the woods 🙂
